| I rarely update this page anymore, but i felt like today was important. Yesterday at school we got word that one of our former students had been killed. He was shot in the head as a part of gang violence. I am HEARTBROKEN. He was one of my students. I had seen him less than two weeks before and we had talked about him trying to turn his life around. Before we parted he gave me a little hug for thanks for having faith in him. Now he's gone forever. Shot in the face for no reason. A life ended at 17. No chance to grow up into a good husband and father. And now we are left with the fear that this will trigger a chain reaction that will end in more death (gang retaliation). I am broken right now.
God- Please help me to see Your hand in this tragedy. I pray that you can use me, your broken servant to have some good come of the horror. Let me be a light to my students through my example and my words. Please God, be with Luis' family and friends as they cope with the loss of a loved one. Let his death not be in vain. Please God, show me your purpose so that I can do your will. -One who is broken. | | |
| so i thought i would post an update since it's been a while since i've posted anything of substance here and maybe, just maybe, you might be wondering how i am. I am coming to the close of my first year teaching. I am a high school math teacher. not really the job i thought i was going for when i went into teaching, but God has a funny sense of humor and sent me here to Sonoma Valley High School. Though it's been really frustrating at some times, i have been blessed with a couple really great colleagues and a mentor who is great beyond imagination. Marian, my BTSA mentor has really gotten me through this year with all its ups and downs. In my personal life it has been a year with ups and downs. There have been two wonderful additions to my life. I have been with my boyfriend Efren for over 10 months and despite some ups and downs, we are making it work. He really inspires me with how he has handled his life. (Ask me for more if you want to ) Also, my family welcomed in a new addition a few weeks ago. My sister gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Fiona Renee. She is quite a looker and i'm just taken with her. I also lost two grandfathers in the past year, so that is hard, but both of them are in a much more peaceful place, so i'm happy and grateful for that. But I miss them. One grandma moved to sonoma, so it's fun to have her closer. okay, to wrap it up. that's my life. this summer i'm going to have a bunch more free time, so if you want to catch up, let me know. I want to know how your life is going too, so e-mail me! or call me... ps- oh yah, i got hired back to teach math again next year, so here's to another year of crazy high schoolers!! ahhhhh! :) | | |
